Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center (SMSC) is unlike any other hospital you may know. If offers state-of-the-art perinatal and medical/surgical services, combining patient center care and family convenience with the safety and security of a licensed and accredited acute care hospital. The hospital was designed and built to help you feel as comfortable as possible. For that reason you will find amenities you may not expect to find in most hospitals.
With 30 licensed beds, SMSC is small enough to provide the utmost personal attention to every patient. In 2008, SMSC received the Summit Award by Press Ganey Associates for the highest patient satisfaction in the country.
Studies show that the quickest way to heal after surgery is by being active. That is why we want you to be involved in your care. Our hospital was designed to promote wellness and healing. The wide hallways, soft hues, balconies and expansive windows are there to help you feel better, sooner. Everyone on our staff, from nurses to guest services and Admissions Representatives, really understand what patients need.
We have both physicians and midwives on staff, which means you have a choice in your obstetrical care. We have six operating rooms, twelve birthing suites and eighteen medical or surgical patient suites. As a smaller facility we are able to provide you with personal attention when you want it, and quiet time when you need it.
A joint project of Sutter Health and Santa Cruz Medical Clinic, SMSC was completed and opened to patients in March of 1996. The hospital is full accredited by the Joint Commission.
